Why go
For the easiest view over Phuket Town: you can drive to the top, and combine it with the Old Town. The view is of town and coast, not wild country.
What you will find
At the top, a viewing platform stands between restaurants and cafés, Tunk Ka Café among them. You look over the rooftops of Phuket Town and, to the south, towards Chalong, Cape Panwa and the Big Buddha on its hill.
Long-tailed macaques gather around the car park and the terraces, waiting for food from visitors.
Getting there
A paved road runs to the top, with parking by the viewpoint: by car, scooter or taxi from Phuket Town. According to one guide there is no public bus to the top.
Before you go
Do not feed the monkeys: feeding makes them more aggressive. Keep bags closed, phones and shiny things out of reach, and give them space.
According to one guide, weekends bring families and the car park near the main terrace fills up from about 5 pm.
Sources disagree on opening hours: come in the daytime.
