Why go
For a walk in the forest more than for the fall itself: Ton Sai is small, but short trails start from it.
What you will find
The cascades are small; one guide calls them unimpressive. The pools at their foot are shallow and rocky, better for wading than swimming, according to one guide.
Trails of about 600 m and 2 km start near the falls. The trail across the forest to Bang Pae needs a guide, which is compulsory on it.
Getting there
By road east from the Thalang crossroads, about 5.5 km according to one guide, on a paved road to the car park. Come by car, scooter or taxi.
Before you go
Not for you in the dry season if you come for the water: from about January to April the flow can drop to a thin thread.
Wet granite and some stretches of trail are very slippery: wear shoes that grip, and bring mosquito repellent.
The entry fee is the Khao Phra Thaeo fee: 200 baht for a foreign adult according to three sources; one guide says the ticket is also valid at Bang Pae on the same day.

Common questions
Is Ton Sai Waterfall worth it in the dry season?
Not for the water: from about January to April it can shrink to a thin thread. The forest trails are still there.
Is this the same Ton Sai as on Phi Phi?
No. Ton Sai Waterfall is in the Khao Phra Thaeo forest on Phuket; Ton Sai on Phi Phi Don is the village and ferry pier.
