Why go

For room to spread out. Sources give the bay a length of 6 to 8 km, so even with large resorts behind it, it is rarely crowded.

What you will find

A long, open bay facing west, with the Laguna resort complex towards the south and the village of Cherngtalay to the north. Lifeguards are posted. Guides consider the northern end, sheltered by an islet, the most reliable in the monsoon.

Getting there

By road. Grab and Bolt work across the island; songthaews (pick-ups with bench seats) run from Phuket Town to one beach and back, not between beaches.

Before you go

In June 2025 a swimmer drowned here under red flags, with "Beach Closed" signs up. A red flag means swimming is prohibited, whatever the sea looks like from the sand.

At the northern end, the outlet of the lagoon can pull like a current.
