Why go

Koh Phi Phi Don is the island where the public ferries land, where the village, the hotels and the bars are, and where you can stay a night or two rather than come for the day.

Not for you if you want a quiet island: Ton Sai is busy in the high season.

What you will find

The ferries land at Ton Sai pier, in the island's village; some boats go to Laem Tong instead.

Phi Phi Don, Koh Phi Phi Leh (where Maya Bay is) and Bamboo Island are in the same national park. One fee covers all three: 400 baht for a foreign adult and 200 baht for a child.

Getting there

From Rassada, on the east coast near Phuket Town, the public ferry takes about two hours and the speedboat about one. Reseller timetables in November 2026 start at around 8.30 am and give the last departure anywhere between 3 pm and 4.30 pm: check yours when you book.

Day trips by speedboat leave mostly from the east-coast marinas and last 8 to 11 hours door to door.

Before you go

On arrival at Ton Sai pier, a 20 baht charge is collected in cash. It is separate from the national park fee, which cheaper day trips often leave out and which you then pay in cash on the day.

Boats run all year, with more cancellations on rough monsoon days: if you stay on the island, check that your boat back is running.
